Historically students have written 10-page research proposals as the final project in this course. To meet the outcomes of the course it would need to be accompanied by a presentation of some type. In the past presentations came before the paper, but we can discuss what suits your needs.

If you want to work on a real proposal you need to use Cambrian’s submission process and forms. Research takes time, which means that actually doing the study would likely occur after the term ends and would not be part of this course (You could inquire about continuing as a community placement).

Research proposals in essay format will help to prepare you for proposal writing at a Masters level. You may want to use it in your application for a Masters program. They need to have the following sections:

  • Title
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review
    • Problem
    • Purpose / Questions
  • Framework
  • Methodology
    • Justification
    • Setting
    • Sample
    • Data collection procedure
    • Rigour
    • Data analysis
    • Limitations
    • Ethical Issues
